Windows Vista had a much lower adoption rate that Windows XP had, you will find many industry researchers (like Gartner, Forrester ir IDC) Whitepapers talking about the “ugly” side of windows vista and how it failed:

This sound to me like some kind of “IT Pepsi Challenge”, people telling “Ohhh this Cola drink is great!” and then they realized they just tasted a regular Pepsi.
