Open Class @ UM

May 31, 2006

Today I taught LINQ in an open class at Moron University UM. The class was great, students from the 4th year of Computers Engeneering were at class. We talked about “impedance mismatch”, ORM (object relational mapping), and others OOP topics. The duration of the class was 3 hours, and most student stay all the class. I’ve enjoyed this new experience, was different from all the conferences of this month.
Note to assistants: you can download the slideshow from here (note: this slideshow is the same but with slightly different template) and the samples can be downloaded from here.

Well, was a pleasure and thank to everybody who made this possible.

Virtual Server R2

May 18, 2006

As I told you , I travelled around the country with Alejandro Ponicke (IT Pro), while we were flying to Santiago del Estero I was loading a Virtual PC, and suddenly he told me : “STOP!  start using Virtual Server R2 Enterprise and you’ll never come back”. I switched Virtual PC for Virtual Server R2 and the performance was improved in a 100% . Hope this post helps you if you’re using WCF-LINQ-WINFX to see how them work and you’re using VPC o VMWARE. This tool rocks, you can connect by RDP Connections, you can select the resource allocations.

Download it! Now it’s free (via Mariano Szklanny)

Finally getting home

May 18, 2006

Hi! I’m at the airplane thinking about this four days that I’ve spent teaching and learning from students of this, my country. What amazing experience, 2 days at Santiago and 1 and a half at Salta. That’s amazing friends, for those kids this is their first meeting, I’m so happy. Everywhere I went people treat me great, and I‘ve learnt a lot from those kids.

But sincerely I want to come back home, this post will be published when the plane land. I hope she will be there (Now I’m hearing Elvis Costello – She and James Blunt - You’re beautiful. I want to go to Southworks’ headquarter, sit at my desk and start working normally. This is an amazing experience in my life, considering I’m only 20 years old, but I really love what I do at Southworks.

This flight is moving like a rollercoaster, now it’s 09:23 p.m. (GMT -03) , the captain said we will be landing at Buenos Aires at 10:45 p.m (GMT -03). It’s -45° outside the plane (I don’t know why they talk about the temperature outside plane we’re 10.000 f****k meters high).

Resuming I love this work, I want to thank Alejandro Ponicke for being my trip-mate in the first half of the trip and also Augusto Alvarez, Guillermina (from Salta), Mario and Aldo, and all those kids that were at my conference. Was a very exciting experience, luckily I’ll be back at 4th quarter of the year.

Finishing this trip-post I hope everybody can assist (for Argentinean People) to my conference on Friday (May 19th) @ Microsoft Argentina where Angel Java Lopéz and me we will talk about LINQ (The next, C# 3.0, and then). Also everyone it’s invited to the WebCast that Alejandro G. Jack (PDO – Southworks) , Mariano Szklanny (SSM – Southworks) and me (PDM – Southworks) will be presenting Adoption and Extending VSTS/TFS.

Well I want to thank everyone starting from my lady, my boss (Alejandro), Microsoft Academic people for letting me live this amazing experience.

Well, I promise this is the last plane post for the next days.

Bye bye

Johnny.

Conference Day @ Salta

May 18, 2006

Hi!, I’m currently at Salta, Argentina, this morining I presented LINQ (Lenguage Integrated Query) and C# 3.0  to the students of  Universidad Católica de Salta. The meeting was great about 50 students of the last years. Then at the afternoon I met students that want to create new students group. I’ve reached 4 new groups: one about Active Directory, one about .net and C# 3.0 , one about Mobile Techonologies and one about ASP.NET. They’re the new 25 students in this program. Hope can see the results soon.

Well, in 40 minutes i’ll be at the airport. I wanna go home, I’m too tired.

Yesterday was the first day here at Santiago del Estero, Argentina. The objective of the trip was to create new users groups and to visit the existing one GENTI. The presentation was great, I showed the Visual Studio Express Family products, and gave them the startup to build new development user groups. I wasn’t alone, Alejandro Ponicke was with me. He made an avant premier of Windows Vista that was great.

I really want to thank Augusto Alvarez, Mario & Aldo (GENTI Teachers) and everyone here to make the first day an amazing one. Here are some pictures of what I’m talking about

100_1748

Also we’re interviewed by a local tv channel about the upcoming Windows Vista.

Today Alejandro will give a conference called “Duro de Matar” (die to hard) and I’ll be teaching ASP.NET and show them “How to build fast web applications using Visual Web Developer Express”.

Come back, tomorrow to see what happened today. (Tomorrow after the conference I’ll be traveling to Salta, Argentina)

Bye

Finally @ Salta

May 17, 2006

Finanlly I’m at Salta. I travelled 6 hours (visit Tucumán) in the route to get my final destination in this trip. The objective of this tour is to get more students involved in the technogly community by creating user groups. I hope I can reach so much groups because this is a unique opportunity to students to be reconized, supported for they group work, and to learn more and more about Technology We can send them the material, the presentations, I can go there to the University to encourage them but all the work must be done by them. One of my favourite samples is GENTI , an IT Group from Santiago del Estero, that made an event (2 days) with 350 assistants.

Well, this is my trip, I hope I can be back at home soon with everyone I love.

Bye.
