I finally found the time to write 5 things about me after being tagged by Andres Aguiar, Pablo Galiano, Eugenio Pace and Diego Dagum.
1. My first computer was a 386DX. Since there was nothing to do I decided to learn the DOS help side by side :) After knowing everything about DOS and hacking autoexec.bat and config.sys I moved to do Quick Basic simple games… cool.
2. I've played piano since I was 10 years old. That's my wire to earth (in spanish “mi clabe a tierra”). Play tennis and footbal are the sports I like to do. I'm living with my girlfriend for 2 years now, but still not married…
3. I live and love Argentina. I believe there is no better place to live than here despite of everyday problems and the unstable situation, politically and economically speaking.
4. I've worked since my high school graduation at 18 years old. I've been always fan of the latest technology and I am always willing to learn new things. I'm working at Southworks and this company and the people working here allowed me to do this kind of things and always pushed me to the next level.
5. I'm 26 years old and currently I'm developing my thesis exploring “Software as a Service” to get my engineering degree in the University of Buenos Aires.
Now, I pass the ball to: Mariano Szklanny, Johnny Halife, Angel “Java” Lopez, Ariel Schapiro and Juan Pablo Garcia.

Southies
September 21st, 2006
Southworks is a place where people learn all the time. For example, one of the developers, Jony Menasches, is certifying MCAD for .NET 2.0 and as part of this process he is blogging the new things that he is learning.

Pablo “Lito†Damiani AKA Liztalk did a very intensive training on Biztalk the last year and now he is doing consulting services in a huge project. His blog is full of tips applied to Biztalk in enterprise projects (MSMQT performance, NLB, etc.)

Ezequiel Bella lately has been working heavily with TFS and MSBuild to set up our build environment, including Continuous Integration, FXCOP rules, Check-in policies, and what not.

Working in Microsoft
May 20th, 2006
I’ve arrived to Redmond the last week. So far, it was a great week working in the Smart Client team from patterns & practices
We are implementing the Smart Client Software Factory and tackling common problems that happens when you develop Smart Client applications using CAB
- How to handle multiple modules (UI; Services; Layout) and use a new IModuleLoaderService, IModuleEnumerator written by Brad Wilson
- How to manage authentication, authorization, impersonation and roles
- How to handle multiple layouts for a single shell
- How to design for multiple Workitems
- How to share domain model objects on the workitem using ComponentDependency
- How to write a new Workspace, CommandsAdapters and UI Elements
- How to work with Databinding an MVP
- How to write a reusable presenter
- How to unit tests CAB applications
… and more stuff coming like loading on demand modules with ClickOnce, Profile Catalog in a central location, etc.
BTW, so far working with the team was a great experience and of course the new patterns & practices space rocks for collaborative teams!

Architects meeting at Microsoft Argentina
April 13th, 2006
Last week Roberto Schatz, DPE Architect, and Ramiro Iturregui, ISV Developer, organized an
Architects meeting at Microsoft,
Argentina. Eugenio Pace, Product Manager for patterns & practices, and me,
talked about many exciting things including:
- The
current status of the patterns
& practices group. Patterns
& practices won’t be an isolated group anymore; they will be part of a
product team that will enroll Visual Studio Team System, p&p and MSF
together. - What
patterns & practices been working on? In the UX area CAB was broadly
adopted and now the SCBAT
(Smart Client Baseline Architecture Toolkit) is what the developer needs to
create a Smart Client application. Including guidance right into Visual
Studio 2005 using GAT (right-click
-> Add Cab Module, etc), documentation, hands on labs, and two
reference implementations showing how to manage offline scenarios,
multiple modules, role-based UI, among other things. - There
is news also in the services area (everything that goes from the proxy to
the database). The SVCBAT (Service BAT) now renamed to Web
Service Software Factory, has been launched and the first
drop is available. I encourage you to download it and give feedback
about your needs in this space.
Finally, we did some Q&A and gathered some feedback. There
were interesting questions about the past, the present and the future of p&p
deliverables. Thankfully, some attractive croissants entered the room because I
was starving already. J
Angel Lopez who was there and blogged
about it
