It’s been two weeks already that we’ve got back from LA after attending PDC. Lots of things announced there.

Microsoft Argentina organized the local-mini version of PDC. I will be there showing Windows Azure with Edgardo.

The talk will be mainly demos (as usual :) and explain some concepts around Windows Azure.

You can register here (it seems it’s all booked though): http://msevents.microsoft.com/CUI/EventDetail.aspx?EventID=1032394696&Culture=es-AR

Other southies will be presenting as well at this event:

See you there…

Tomorrow I will be at CodeCamp talking about performance on two different presentations. One of them is aimagebout the front end performance of web applications (a similar talk to the one presented at MIX last june), but this time I will do it with Paulo Arancibia.

In the other presentation I will join Federico Boerr and together we will try to demystified performance and load testing based on real world experience.

Since the audience will be half students and half professional developers, we decided to do both presentations in a extremely pragmatic fashion, showing tips & tricks. The deck of one of the presentations has just 3 slides! I will post them after the event, but here you have a preview:

Presentation (3 - 4 PM): 14 rules for web app performance improvement Presentation (4:15 - 5:15 PM): How To: Perf and Load Testing

On the other hand, Southworks is one of the sponsors of the event and several other southies will be presenting as well (actually 7 presentations, wow!):

Southworks will have a booth as well, so feel free to stop by for some geek talks!

Update: here is the video of the presentation (thanks to Martin Salias)

Couple of week ago the Regional Architect Forum took place on Sheraton Pilar (Buenos Aires, Argentina). Ezequiel Glinsky and Juan Ladetto kindly invited us to talk about a recent case study we did with an insurance company Grupo Sancor Seguros where we created the foundations for an S+S platform.

I had the opportunity  to deliver a presentation together with Nimageicolas Sabena who is part of Grupo Sancor Seguros development team. During the presentation we talked about how we chose a couple of use cases related to policy issuance as an excuse to:

  • Teach them the Agile methodology that we use at Southworks
  • Start building the foundation of a corporate S+S platform.

imageThe picture on the right shows how we approached the S+S platform requirements. I will extend on that in a future post.

I also had the chance to meet with many people and exchange experiences around S+S, day to day architecture and lots of juicy things.

This post announces an event for the spanish talking community

I’ve arrived to China after a long journey (~35 hours). I still needs to figure out what’s the time and what should I eat. Shanghai is very nice and it looks like any occidental city plenty of people and lights.

China, Shangai 023

This week I will present in Chengdu about Software Factories and next week will deliver a 2 day workshop. And of course I will go to the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and squeeze every minute I’m here.

Thanks to everyone who attended the briefing. It was really cool to see so many people interested in what we were talking. These are Beto and myself on stage during my presentation about user experience with WPF (look at the cool snowboard in 3D:)…

Thanks to Paulo and Ezequiel who wrote this piece of code. Paulo is an expert on XAML art and Ezequiel simply grabbed the XAML, open it in Visual Studio and added offline support within a couple of hours. Thanks!
