DinnerNow 2.0 for Visual Studio 2008 and .NET 3.5 beta 2

The DinnerNow.net 2.0 release is an updated version of the DinnerNow orcas solution. This version has been developed for the Visual Studio 2008 & .NET Framework 3.5 beta 2 releases. Some of the new features and changes in the 2.0 version include:

  • Official Windows CardSpace Icons.
  • Revised WPF kiosk application that can be loaded in the Visual Studio designer for WPF.
  • Integration with the mobile application

This release also includes all of the new Orcas features that we first introduced with the last release, including:

  • Language Integrated Query for .NET (LINQ) and LINQ-to-SQL
  • Workflow Services (codenamed “Silver”)
  • WCF RSS services

Microsoft Code Name "Acropolis" August Community Technology Preview

Microsoft Code Name “Acropolis” is a set of components and tools intended to make it easier for developers to build and manage modular, business focused, client applications for Microsoft Windows on the .NET Framework.

This release is mainly an update so that our customers can continue to evaluate “Acropolis” with the latest VS 2008 Beta. In addition to VS 2008 Beta2 support, we have also added one small feature named “FloatingLayoutPane”. We have gotten feedback from our customers and in our forum that basic functionality like showing a floating window is too hard in the July CTP.

How to: Upgrade to GAT/GAX July 2007 CTP

It is a minor update to the previous February 2007 CTP, and includes the following fixes and improvements:

  • Support for both Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Studio 2008 Betas 1 and 2 (Orcas)
  • Improved installer (using The Windows Installer XML (WiX))
  • Support for Registration as Normal User (RANU) and experimental hive
  • Enhanced support for installing Visual Basic templates

Upgrade:

Upgrade is recommended but not required as there are no critical fixes. If you wish to design and run guidance packages on VS2008, this version of GAX/GAT must be installed.

1) Download Guidance Automation Extensions July 2007 CTP

2) Download Guidance Automation Toolkit July 2007 CTP

3) Uninstall Enterprise Library

4) Uninstall Web Client Software Factory and Smart Client Software Factory

5) Unregister ALL existing guidance packages (if remain some)

8) Install the new version of GAX (July 2007 CTP)
