• Deciding and Doing

PrintOn a recent early morning I had a chance to hear Jon Kitna speak to a group of leaders. He asked the group, “If there are five frogs on a lily pad and one decides to jump off, how many are left?” The answer is, of course, five. Deciding to jump is not the same thing as actually jumping.

To hear Jon speak I had decided the night before to wake up early. But when the alarm went off at pre-dawn on a cold winter’s morning, it took doing to get out of bed. Deciding wasn’t enough.

What is it that you have decided to do, but haven’t yet done? Don’t fret, just take a step. As George Eliot said, “It is never to late to be what you might have been.”
